What is 1.4521 stainless steel equivalent to?

What Is 1.4521 Stainless Steel?

1.4521 stainless steel, also known as X2CrMoTi18-2 or AISI 444, is a ferritic, molybdenum-containing stainless steel characterized by its high resistance to chloride-induced stress-corrosion cracking and excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. And it comes in a variety of forms, including sheet, plate, coil, rod, tube and fittings.

What is 1.4521 stainless steel equivalent to?

1.4521 stainless steel is equivalent to AISI 444 and the UNS designation S44400. It is also known by its European nominal designation, X2CrMoTi18-2.

What is the difference between 1.4521 and 1.4404 stainless steel?

1.4521 is an ultra-low carbon and nitrogen, highly corrosion-resistant ferritic stainless steel containing 18% chromium and 2% molybdenum, stabilized by additions of niobium or titanium. It features high yield strength, excellent thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion coefficient, and resistance to high chloride corrosion. It is suitable for applications such as heat exchange, water treatment, food processing, and automotive exhaust systems.

1.4404 is a molybdenum-containing austenitic stainless steel with a carbon content of ≤0.03%. The inclusion of nickel and molybdenum provides excellent corrosion resistance, weldability, and high-temperature resistance up to 925°C. It is commonly used in food preparation, chemical processing, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
