431 seamless stainless steel tubing

SUS431 is a type of steel with a better combination of strength and toughness among martensitic stainless steels. Higher strength and hardness can be obtained through heat treatment. It has good corrosion resistance to oxidizing acids (nitric acid at a certain temperature and concentration, most organic acids) and organic acid aqueous solutions. Generally suitable for industries that require strength, toughness and corrosion resistance in the production of nitric acid, acetic acid, light industry, textiles, etc., such as shafts, piston rods, pumps and other parts as well as containers and equipment.

Grade 431 stainless steel is a martensitic, heat-treatable grade of steel with excellent corrosion resistance, torque strength, high toughness and tensile properties. All these properties make them ideal for bolt and shaft applications. However, these steels cannot be cold worked due to their high yield strength, so they are suitable for operations such as spinning, deep drawing, bending or cold heading.

Martensitic steels are typically manufactured using techniques that allow for quenching and tempering and have poor weldability. Grade 431 steel has lower corrosion resistance than austenitic grades. Operations of grade 431 are limited by loss of high temperature strength due to excessive tempering and loss of ductility at negative temperatures.
