317L (00Cr19Ni13Mo3, SUS317L) alloy is an austenitic stainless steel based on molybdenum.

317L stainless steel has stronger resistance to chemical corrosion than conventional chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel such as 304 alloy. In addition, compared with conventional stainless steel, 317L alloy has higher ductility, stress corrosion resistance, compressive strength and high temperature resistance. It is a low carbon grade or L grade, this grade has resistance to sensitization during welding and heat treatment.

Stainless steel is called high alloy steel. They contain about 4-30% chromium. Based on the crystal structure, they are divided into martensitic steels, austenitic steels and ferritic steels.

The low carbon content makes 317L highly resistant to intergranular corrosion.
Prevents pitting in contact with phosphoric acid, chloride, bromide and iodide
heat resistance
All chromium nickel molybdenum steels have excellent oxidation resistance
Exhibits low fouling rates in normal atmospheric temperatures up to 1600-1650°F (871-899°C).

Alloy 317L is commonly used in the treatment of sulfur, pulp liquors, acid dyes, acetylation and nitration mixtures, bleaching solutions, heavy coal and petroleum, and many chemical compounds. Some other applications using 317L alloy include:
